You can still make your own milk even if you don’t know where you’re going to sleep at night
During the first week of lockdown I stayed with my friends Hannah & Liam from The Rubbish Trip. They are hard core Zero Wasters and the main reason why I adopted a Zero Waste lifestyle myself back in 2016.
When I went Zero Waste, I jumped in head first, didn’t allow myself to take it easy or make exceptions, and even though retrospectively it wasn’t the best approach, I quickly learned what a massive life change it was — and for the better.
Years later, some practices have become second nature to me. However, I’ve noticed that every time I find myself in a stressful situation, there are other practices that get completely overlooked or forgotten about. These are things that still require planning, preparation, or specific appliances (I’m looking at you, homemade milk).
It seems like every time the fine balance between living sustainably and mental sanity is disrupted, I immediately seek safety and comfort in products wrapped in plastic.
