Spend your writing time writing, not thinking about what to write
I’m finally writing the infamous ‘How to write 10 articles a day’ post.
I am by no means writing 10 articles a day.
But I could.
Easily.
I’ve noticed that, the more I write, the quicker I get.
I went from spending over 3 hours drafting an article for Medium, to less than 30 minutes.
If I get quicker at writing, making time for it gets easier too. Now I no longer have to block out 3 hours of my day to write one single article.
But there are other tricks too.
- Have a list of ideas
The majority of time we block out for writing is spent thinking about what to write. Bypass this obstacle by having a list of writing ideas you can pick from, so your time for writing becomes writing time only. - Accept that it doesn’t have to be perfect
Whether you’re writing a poem, a blog post, or a draft for your novel, just let it come out first. There will be a time for editing, but first you have to let it out. And it doesn’t have to be perfect. It will get easier to produce first drafts that are in better and better shape. But don’t let perfectionism stop you from letting your…
