Why this works for me, and how to find out if it works for you

It’s 5.14 on a Sunday morning, and no, I have not just gotten home from a wild night out.

I did this on purpose.

I wake up at 5am most mornings to write.

I purposefully tried to share other tips on how to make time for writing before reluctantly revealing that I am indeed one of those people who wake up before dawn and actually enjoy it.

Waking up at 5am is not for everyone. Some of you might prefer staying up late and writing into the night. Honestly, whatever works for you.

But there’s no denying that waking up extra early to write before work… works.

Not everyone is a morning person, and not everyone has the privilege to go to bed early enough and create a space that allows them to wake up at 5am and write.

But this is how I do it.

1. I go to bed at 9pm

No point in waking up extra early to write, if you haven’t gotten enough sleep. Of course, I am very privileged in this department because I don’t have kids to put to bed or a job that finishes late. Even with the best intentions, I don’t always go to sleep at 9pm, but if I’m determined to have a…
