Let me preface this by saying that I am by no means an expert in this, but I believe in the value of sharing what you learn as you learn it. So I’m writing an article about something that I’m only just dipping my toes in — and in this article I’m also doing the opposite of what I’m talking about in the article. But anyway.

People don’t care about you if they don’t know you.

A hard-to-swallow pill, I know.

But if you’re writing on the internet about yourself, chances are no one’s going to read it.

People come to the internet with a problem they need to fix.

They don’t want to know about how you got there. They don’t want to know about your own personal journey of growth and discovery — unless you’re already an established personality on the internet.

As sad as it sounds, people want to be spoon-fed a quick and easy fix.

So if you’re writing on the internet and trying to grow your audience, find out what problem your ideal audience is trying to fix.

People come here with a problem and you want to give them a solution.

Simple as.
